Abstract
Deformation behavior in synchronous belts was investigated under fluctuation torque conditions. Especially, the contact at the opposite side of the working flank was discussed carrying out some experiments and mechanical analysis. The contact affects the maximum curvature and usefully reduced it. A simplified mechanical model proposed in this study well explained the reduction of the belt curvature.
