Abstract
Synchronous belts are not only used in power transmissions but also positioning systems. It can be considered that polygonal action of pulley and interference between pulley teeth and belt teeth could influence the positioning accuracy. In this paper, we study how these factors influence positioning accuracy experimentally. It is found that positioning error can be reduced by using a pulley with larger teeth number and a proper installation tension.
