Most of electric wheelchair employs various type of control rod as the driving device. On the other hand, different kinds of them have been developed as suitable as each user has needed. We propose the bi-state operating controller using the motion of operator's head, which was detected by three couples of photo sensors. The reference signal for the direction control was directly generated by using head motion. In addition of information on it, we employed the special signal to decide the operating command. That signal informed the state on decision-making of operator to the logic circuits, and was generated by the signal of the silicon gum fiber which was bit by the operator. The adjusting condition of new type of driving device was described in this report.
