Abstract
The transient response of slider due to a shock was analyzed by computer simulation. Two slider were simulated to compare the shock resistance characteristic. The stiffness variation of slider due to time were calculated. When a shock is gave to slider to approach disk, the shock resistance performance of the slider with low pitch stiffness is stronger than the slider with high pitch stiffness. Because the pitch angle of slider with low pitch stiffness is easy to become small, so that the flying height reduction can be improved.
