We estimated the distribution of the circumferential stress along the axial direction for axisymmetric spindle-like models of abdominal aortic aneurysm under the loading state. The mean circumferential stress was derived from the force balance in the normal direction of the vascular wall surface and that in the axial direction of the aorta with an assumption of the incompressibility condition of the vascular wall. We also compared the stress distribution with the one resulted from the finite element analysis using an incompressible isotropic hyperelastic model and boundary conditions and assuming a stress-free state geometry to obtain the shape given in the loading state. These results show that the method on the basis of the geometry and the force balance at the loading state has an advantage to estimate the stress accurately with clinical data.
