Hydrodynamic lubrication for reciprocating compressor bearings in refrigerators has been numerically analyzed in order to investigate the effect of the oil groove. In this analysis, the spiral groove on the rotating shaft surface and the shaft inclination are taken into consideration. As the analysis results, it is obtained that the bearing load capacity decreases largely when the peak pressure of the oil film is located on the oil groove. Furthermore, it is made clear that the optimum location of the oil groove on the rotating shaft surface.
