The elastic contact of a ball on a plane with meniscus in the contact area is analyzed. The effect of the Laplace pressure within the meniscus on the contact is taken into account by considering the Hertzian contact between the ball and the deformed plane due to the Laplace pressure. It is found that the numerical method proposed in this paper is valid. The numerical results show that the meniscus force increases as the meniscus thickness decreases for the meniscus thickness of less than 10nm.
