Abstract
There is a French strength of materials notebook by Tatsumi Hajime who learned at Yokosuka shipyard school. A teacher was French Dupont, and it was written down over 1876-1877 years. They are the precious materials which can known that contents of education in those days. It consists of 2 volumes of about each 200 pages. It is written in the first volume about tension, compression, bending and in the second volume about beam, moment of inertia and shearing etc.. They are fundamental items and an application exercise about the material and the element.
