Abstract
The molding plastic gear is often used for the power transmission in OA equipment and car components, etc. Strength of the tooth for the breakage becomes a problem when it is used for the power transmission, and a plastic has a mechanical property of temperature dependency. Therefore, the establishment of the strength formula for plastic gears considering the change of plastic physical property with tooth surface temperature rise is desired. In this study, from the experimental results, we examined the following life prediction methods: (1) method on the basis of the temperature of meshing teeth: (2) method on the basis of the atmospheric temperature and load condition.
