Abstract

In 2006, Tokyo Metropolitan College of Technology and Tokyo Metropolitan College of Aeronautical Engineering were integrated into Tokyo Metropolitan College of Industrial Technology (TMCIT). Then TMCIT became a college with two campuses (Shinagawa Campus and Arakawa Campus). So we took up the manufacture of a sailboat which was able to sail between two campuses as a theme of "Monozukuri" education. For a half year, students of two campuses were became apprentices to a shipwright and build a wooden A-class Dinghy sailboat. Then they prepared for sailing the sailboat on the high seas and went on its maiden voyage. In this paper, we report a process of the manufacture of a sailboat and its maiden voyage, and then its educational effects are described.
