Abstract
A noble micro wedge ring (MWR) type roller speed reducer with the speed ratio of 10 was developed as a speed reducer aiming at miniaturization and a large speed ratio of the device. Its feature is a simple structure and has no special mechanism for normal load at the contact because of formation of wedge between a ring roller and input roller. The experiments were conducted using some ring rollers with different size for improvement of the maximum output torque. As a result, the optimum ring roller gave higher than 7.6Nm and slide/roll ratio below 9% and efficiency over 90%.
