Abstract
We are developing microcapsule suspension, which is expected to be used for absolute hemolytic evaluation instead of animal blood. In this report, we describe fractural characteristics of microcapsule suspension under fluid dynamical shear stress, which is generated by rotational shear stressor developed in our laboratory. We tested two types of microcapsule suspensions with 100 μm diameters. One has polyurethane membrane, and the other has melamine-resin membrane. Fractural property of the polyurethane suspension was similar to that of bovine blood, whereas the melamine-resin suspenstion showed different result. Therefore the polyurethane suspension will be applicable to absolute hemolytic evaluation of centrifugal blood pumps.
