F-0839 Approaches to the Indirect-type Insects' Wing Movement Mechanism

Abstract

It has not been clarified about the indirect flight-type wing movement mechanism. Close correlation of the chest wall vibration is our hypothesis of this mechanism. So, various approaches had been carried out. 1) 3D-reconstructtion of the wing movement muscles showed new alignment of those. 2) This and experimental measurements showed our hypothesis confident. That is, the chest wall amplifies the frequency of the wing movement muscles' vibration.
