Abstract
This paper deals with evaluation of ultraviolet rays-assisted bonding of PFPE lubricant to the DLC surface of a magnetic disk. Spreading of lubricant from quasi step-shaped boundary between lubricated and non-lubricated zones was measured with irradiation time as a parameter, and diffusion coefficients were obtained using a modified Boltzmann-Matano method, which enable us an approximate calculation under an initial condition of a non-step-shaped boundary. It is found that irradiation is effective for bonding the lubricant, while a very thin layer of the lubricant abutting the surface exhibits faster diffusion.
