Electromagnetic acoustic transducers (EMATs) are widely used in nondestructive testing for metal. The advantage of the EMAT is that a non-contact inspection is possible. To enhance the reliability and applicability of the EMAT testing, a numerical simulation tool for the EMAT testing is proposed in this study. Our tool is based on the boundary element method (BEM) and elastodynamic finite integration technique (EFIT). A hybrid usage of the BEM and EFIT produces an efficient and accurate calculation of ultrasonic wave generated from the EMAT. In this study, a simulation of ultrasonic wave propagation in a pipe is demonstrated.
