Abstract

In order to establish a method for evaluating shear fracture caused by material and structural discontinuity such as welded joints, a fracture analysis method using a damage mechanics model was developed. The material parameters of the shear modified GTN model, which is one of the damage mechanics model, were investigated and compared with the shear test results for the compression and tensile test results of low alloy steel SQV2A for pressure vessels. In the shear modified GTN model, it was confirmed that it was difficult to reproduce the fracture behavior under the pure shear condition. By proposing an improved model considering the generation and growth of flattened voids, it is possible to reproduce the fracture behavior under pure shear conditions.
