Abstract
To improve the positioning accuracy of a parallel kinematic machine tool, the calibration of kinematic parmeters is needed. A method to calibrate kinematic parameters with DBB(Double Ball Bar) measurements was proposed. However, this method does not calibrate kinematic parameters defined with respect to the location of a table of the machine, and thus the manual rotation of thecalibrated coordinate is needed. Therefore, this method takes longer and it is required to be shortened. This paper presents a new method of calibration with a specialized jig that consists of a ball plate with 7 balls and stoppers to the table. With this jig, the modification of calibrated coordinates is not needed, and the time for the calibration is shortened.
