This study presents a position control method for rack & pinion mechanism with two-motors. In our method, when the control input which is generated by a position controller is large compared with a given offset value, both the two-motors drive the rack gear. On the other hand, when the control input is relatively small, one motor drives the rack gear and the other one pushes the rack gear to opposite direction, in order to cancel the backlash. The experimetal result is shown to confirm that the proposed method can be used for the positioning of the actual rack gear.
