This paper describes an optical detection method of dew condensation, which is based on plasmon resonance. Plasmon is a collective oscillation of free carrier. Especially, local surface plasmon resonance which is excited on metal nanostructure attracts interest due to its ability to strong electric field enhancement and sensitive detection of absorbed agents through the change of optical response. This feature enables detection of water absorption with a high sensitivity. Even if the water-layer thickness is smaller than the light wavelength, the optical response of metal nanostructure drastically changes. Furthermore, as the nanostructure has meso-pore structure, plasmonic response occurs at temperatures higher than the dew point. This feature is expected to apply dew-condensation prevention for surrounding electronics.
