When a ferromagnetic object in a vacuum chamber or a container filled with liquid is suspended magneticaly, it is difficult to measure the displacement of the ferromagnetic object from the outside of the container with an eddy current sensor or an optical sensor. This study proposes to apply sensorless series double magnetic suspension to cope with such a problem. The principle of series double magnetic suspension and that of sensorless magnetic suspension are described. It is analyticaly proved that the series double magnetic suspension system is observable when the displacement of the first floator is solely detected. Then, a designed and fabricated experimental apparatus for verifying the principles is described.
