Fretting fatigue crack growth tests with different contact pressures and FEM stress analysis were carried to evaluate fretting fatigue crack growth behavior at the early stage. Fretting fatigue cracks initiated in the very early stage less than 10% of fretting fatigue. Fretting fatigue crack growth rates were significantly high in the early stage and decreased with increasing crack length. From the FEM analysis, fretting fatigue crack growth direction was along to the maximum shear stress.
