Abstract
This paper introduces Ultra Flat Strain Wave Gearing (CSD and SHD-type) developed in last year (2003). Strain wave gearing, also known as harmonic drive gearing, has been used in many applications, where lightweight and compact mechanical components are essential. This new product developed is more lightweight and compact than products in the past, CSF and SHF-type. There were many issues to be resolved in order to realize the ultra-flat design. New ideas and technologies were applied to develop CSD and SHD-type. Its exceedingly flat shape has never seen before hi a precision speed reducer.
