Despite its popularity as an operation management paradigm, lean or JIT has been generally considered difficult to adopt. One of the reasons could be that clear understandings of JIT have not been achieved in general. This study attempts to clarify the essential properties of JIT activities and the relationships among them by employing Factory Physics framework and SysML.
