Abstract

Water electrolysis is an established method for producing hydrogen as an energy source. Recently, alkaline anion water electrolyzers, in which anion exchange membrane is used as an electrolyte membrane, has received great attention for its advantages such as the use of non-noble catalysts, the low ohmic resistance, and the good gas separation characteristics(1). However, the stability and conductivity must be further enhanced. From electrochemical experiments, the best condition for anion exchange membrane electrolyzer was to use CCS for anode, and CCM for cathode. Moreover, the dependence of cell performance on the circulating fluid was investigated using dilute alkaline solutions such as K2CO3 solution and KOH solution. The best results were gained using K2CO3 solution, and the result was better for solutions with a high concentration.
