Numerical computations were carried out for the convections of air in a vertical cylinder with electric coil inducing a magnetic field. Top 1/3 of the cylinder sidewall is at a higher temperature, the bottom 1/3 at a lower temperature and 1/3 in between-thermally insulated. The height of cylinder is 3 times of the cylinder radius. The air in the top heated system is rather stagnant due to the temperature stratification in a gravity field. The electric coil was placed at various levels around the vertical cylinder to study its effect in non-gravity field at first and then with a gravitational acceleration. Local convection mode and whole area convection modes were predicted even without a gravitational acceleration. Detailed flow modes and heat transfer rates enhanced are graphically and numerically listed.
