Abstract
Modular robots are robotic systems composed of a variable number of mechanical modules. So far, we have investigated how heterogeneity of system components influences the adaptivity of the resultant behavior. More specifically, we have introduced different adhesiveness between the modules. In the simulation results, we have showed that a certain amount of heterogeneity improves the adaptivity of the system compared to the case of homogeneous modules. However, since there still remains much to be understood about how the heterogeneity affects the adaptivity of the modular robot, in this study, we aim to shed light on the adaptivity with heterogeneity in terms of complex networks.
