Abstract
We propose an approach to detecting human motion and respiration using dual-type K band microwave Doppler sensor in home environment. The presence of motion is tested by the target's displacement amount which is proportional to the summation of the Doppler signal phase change. In calculating the phase change, a new method to estimate the signal offset is used. The detector decides whether the respiration is present by comparing the maximum of the periodogram to a threshold under the condition that motion is not detected. The validity of the detector was checked by the experiment that measuring the subject changing his position and pose in a normal room.
