In this study, a computational model of child climbing behavior has been developed to prevent childhood injuries by changing environmental factors. This model is constructed by probabilistically modeling the relationships among product design parameters, child characteristics, and climbing behaviors based on observed behavioral data. Large scale behavioral data are needed to apply the behavior model to every day life environment. In this paper, a system for sensing child climbing behavior is developed using strain gauge force sensors installed under experimental boxes. This system simultaneously collects force sensor data and camera data during an experiment and enables to measure child climbing behaviors toward the boxes.
