Abstract
We proposed the method to estimate the scapula position by using a whole body of musculoskeletal model and motion capture system. In this method, the position of each bone is estimated by solving Inverse Kinematics problem. Therefore, the obtained position of those bones satisfies the constraint of joint connection, and it can be applied for muscle tension analysis. In Inverse Kinematics simulation, we add the sliding constraint to the existing model we have been developed. We tested its system for 2 scapula movements, adduction/abduction and elevation/depression of the scapula and confirm this constraint prevent from the scapula sinking into the thorax or detaching from the thorax. We also tested for 2 upper limb movements, adduction/abduction and flection/extension of humerus and measured the upward rotation and external rotation angle of the scapula. We found out marker displacement on the elbow causes an error.
