Abstract
Hayabusa developed by JAXA returned the earth from asteroid named Itokawa with tiny samples in 2010. Currently, JAXA is planning HAYABUSA 2 mission to reach another asteroid named 1999 JUS in 2018. In this paper, a novel mobility system for asteroid rover is proposed. To utilize asteroid's severe environment, a combination of a SMA (Shape Memory Alloy) and a spring is employed for our mobility system. Several prototype models are designed and one of them is developed.
