The purposes of passive substance training for disordered consciousness patients is mainly preservation contracture and improvement of joint motion by the motion exercise. However, the passive substance training was also suggested to activates the brain function. Moreover, It is thought that exercise therapy from the early postoperative period for such as disordered consciousness patients have an effect on recovery of brain function and motility function in clinical site. Therefore, we are developing the passive stepping device with knee-ankle-foot orthosis powered by an artificial air muscle. The device can do the stepping action using one artificial air muscle and have adjust function to the difference of the length of each patient. We made this device and confirmed the basic functions.
