An in-wheel motor system is one of the electric vehicle's drive systems. There are many advantages in the in-wheel motor system. The fuel consumption is improved by using the in-wheel motor system. But, the system has a problem. The problem is that ride quality deteriorates by the increase of unsprung mass. Therefore, in this study, we proposed a new in-wheel motor system which can improve the ride quality, and verified its effectiveness by the motion analysis using motion equation. And we design the control system of the proposed in-wheel motor system, and verify the control performance. As a result, we confirmed that the proposed system showed better performance than the conventional system and can control both vertical vibration and horizontal velocity at the same time.
