Abstract
ECF(electro-conjugate fluid) is one of functional fluid. ECF generates a powerful jet flow when you add high voltage in this fluid. This shows superior characteristics of power density, so you can make small and powerful actuators using ECF jet flow. As a one of application, we proposed a braille display which consists of ECF actuators to fabricate much smaller one compared with conventional one. The characteristics of the jet flow depend on the shape and scale of micro electrodes to add high voltage, so we utilized MEMS fabrication technique and made small and sophisticated electrodes to improve the property of actuators. In this paper, we revealed the basic characteristics of jet flow by new electrodes, and considered the relation between the number of needle and output. Based on these results, we also designed and showed the constitution of ECF micro actuators which was a prototype for a braille display.
