Abstract

The general cyclo gear reducer is composed of eccentric input axis, internal sun gears, epitrochoid gears, and an output disk. The cyclo gear reducer has a deceleration ratio of engagement that is higher than the spur gears. We propose the cyclo gear reducer that can change the deceleration ratio by a new mechanism. As the fundamental mechanism, one epitrochoid gear with one gear ratio is installed on the side, and the other gear consisting of different curve as another gear ratio is installed on the other side. This has the function of the continuous variable transmission. By a mechanical simulation using 3D CAD,we have verified the validity of the mechanism.
