Abstract

Nowadays we can have many kinds of rich hardware platform with modern operating system and large memory, but traditional microcontrollers are still key components to implement functions to interact with real world including environmental sensing and physical computing. Without fundamental knowledge and experience of this technology layer, it is difficult to realize an idea no matter how wonderful it is. Nevertheless, we do not have enough systematized educational support for students of general high school course, apart from industrial course. This paper reports a practice of educational support to motivate high school students on learning electronic circuit and microcontroller programs through designing and building small-scale model satellite called CANSAT. All activities are offered in high school science club.
