Abstract

Ionic Polymer-Metal composite (IPMC) sensor is one of the most promising polymer deformation sensor to realize a type of self-sensing actuator. In this research effect of input state on outputs of IPMC sensor is evaluated with three alkali metals (Li+, Na+, K+). As a result, it is suggested that the larger Stokes radius of cation in IPMC improve the sensors outputs. Also, it is thought that the response speed of IPMC sensor is limited due to its stiffness and movement of cation because rapid deformation blocks to generate electric potential difference between cations and anions.
