Abstract

Walking is indispensable in daily lives especially for elderly person. Due to aging, their tibialis anterior muscle deteriorate and their dorsiflexion angle become small. Consequently, they tend to easily stumble and falldown. In this study, we develop walking support shoes to support their dorsiflexion in swing phase by using wearer’s weight, which makes energy autonomous driving system. Pneumatic energy produced by a foot pump drives a wire-type pneumatic cylinder. The validities of proposed shoes are shown in some experiments.
