Abstract

In a bicycle competition, it is required for a cyclist to master the pedaling skill that realizes effective pedaling motion after optimizing the settings of mechanical components of a bicycle. However, the risk of injury in racing has been reported to be caused due the ambiguity of the definition of pedaling skill. Also, none have been established the evaluation criteria of pedaling skill. Then this study focused on the satiability of pedaling exercise to evaluate the pedaling skill. This paper proposes the evaluation method of pedaling skill by using the acceleration data around the pedal shaft while pedaling exercise. Our findings indicated the relation between the cycling career and the stability of pedaling exercise. For future, we will investigate the influence of changing in the height of a saddle to the stability of pedaling exercise.
