Abstract

In recent years, micro-droplets are used in many fields such as production process of functional particles. By using an ultrasonic transducer and a micropore plate, micro-droplets can be generated. In this research, a droplet generation system using ultrasonic torsional vibrator and flowing ambient liquid has been fabricated and the generated droplets have been evaluated. Pure water was used for the dispersed phase and silicone oil was used for the continuous phase. When the applied air pressure and the resonance frequency were 300kPa and 31.0kHz, the average diameter of pure water droplets of diameter was 66.4μm. The range of droplets generation into the continuous phase was wider than that in previous results.
