Abstract

We have developed a new rehabilitation support system, “UR-System 2.2”, for restoring motor function of the upper limb after stroke in patients with hemiplegia, which was redesigned on the basis of knowledge gained in clinical test using UR-System 2. Moreover, UR-System 2.2 is equipped with the testing function of isolated movement from synergy movement pattern. In this paper, we investigated the effectiveness of UR-System 2.2 as a testing device in 6 subjects with a hemiplegic upper limb after stroke. For this purpose, we compared the test results with UR-System 2.2 and the conventional test, namely MAS and A-ROM, before and after manual therapy with the therapist. As a result, we verified the effectiveness of UR-System 2.2 as a test device.
