Abstract

In this paper we proposed the brain activity measurement items to detect declining abilities for visuo-spatial perception. We hypothesized that the combination of declining abilities for visuo-spatial perception and physical abilities leads to stumbling, and also hypothesized that abilities for visuo-spatial perception can be divided into 2 parts: visual perception for depth information and 3D reconstruction. Three types of tasks were conducted for 12 elderly people and the achievement of the task and EEG data during the tasks were recorded. We compared each result with Hasegawa Dementia Scaling-Revised (HDS-R), and the task for visual perception for depth information had a correlation with declining of cognitive abilities (r = 0.53) without one outlier. The achievements of other tasks reflect declining of cognitive abilities, too. Thus using these measurement items would reveal the relationship between cognitive and physical abilities, and its effects on fallings.
