This paper reports about an assistive robot for facial make-up. Facial make-up is one of the activities of daily living, especially for women. We aim to shorten the required time and reduce the workload of facial make-up. The robot has an active mechanism with motors and a passive mechanism with constant force springs. We examine the applying coverage are and the force applied on the face. These experiments have shown that there are unreachable areas after the application and the robot applies approximately constant force to the face. We describe the improvement of the applying coverage and show that the robot is able to apply constant force to the face by use of the suggested active and passive mechanisms.
