Actuators using skeletal muscle cells are expected to create actuators with unprecedented features. In previous studies, it has not been possible to generate rotational motion with an actuator using muscle cells. Skeletal muscle gel actuators were constructed by culturing primary rat muscle cells in collagen gel. Then, the actuators were assembled into a three-dimensionally printed linear rotational motion conversion mechanism. We confirmed that the contraction length of the skeletal muscle gel actuator was over the displacement required to drive the linear rotation motion conversion mechanism.
