In micro robot assembly, manual assembly is very costly and time consuming due to the components are quite small. An order automatic bending unit is implemented into the robot structure to solve this problem. In this study, an arbitrary order automatic bending unit using shape memory polymer (SMP) is proposed. The SMP units memorize the bending angle before implementing them into the structure. A three-dimensional structure consisting of multiple angles was prototyped for evaluation. A locking mechanism are employed for fastening the structures. Ag-paste plate heaters for bending the SMP are implemented in the unit, heating SMP unit characteristics (bending angle, bending force, etc.) were evaluated.
