Abstract

Recently, additive manufacturing technology continues to evolve day by day and the technique enable elaborate modeling. However, there are few examples of research on additive manufacturing methods that perform additional modeling on three-dimensional objects. The realization of additional modeling on the surface of various three-dimensional objects expands the range of thinking for designers. In this research, we have investigated the additive manufacturing method using a six-degree of freedom parallel mechanism stage for a fixed injection head. A slant direct drive parallel mechanism for a prototype additive manufacturing system was proposed and designed. The prototype system that can perform the additional modeling on the inclined surface or curved surface of the three-dimensional models has been developed and the additional modeling on the three-dimensional model were carried out. The modeling results were experimentally investigated and verified.
