Abstract

Compared to 30 years ago, motor skills of Japanese children have decreased. On the other hand, the height and weight have increased, and when considered as a musculoskeletal system, modern children are more developed. Nevertheless, motor skills have decreased, in order to solve the problem of decreased motor skills, it is important to improve not only the development of physical constitution but also the motor control skills. Thus, we focused on the sense of rhythm which is considered to be one of the motor control skills. In this study, we evaluated the human stepping rhythmic movements instructed by sound signals, conducted experiments twice a week for 4 consecutive weeks, and analyzed the improvement in rhythmic sense over time. We report the results.
