Abstract

In this paper, we propose a novel freeform inflatable blanket-type device to investigate its effectiveness in suppressing negative emotions and reducing anxiety and stress through social robotics. The device is designed to always be close to the user and provide a sense of comfort and relaxation. The unique characteristic of the device is its freeform design, enabling new forms of user interaction that were not possible with conventional fixed-shape social robots and devices. We plan to enhance the device’s functionality by generating various tactile feedback depending on the type of user contact. Furthermore, we aim to develop the device as a freeform device that can temporarily assume a defined shape, making it more easily clingable to the user’s body and promoting a more immersive interaction experience.
