Abstract

A new vibration auralization system has been developed to support factory inspections. The system uses high-speed vision to simulate low-frequency vibration sounds that are inaudible to the human ear and to allow selective hearing against noisy backgrounds. The system converts these vibrations to an audible frequency range for easier detection by the human ear. The system also converts low-frequency sounds to a comfortable frequency band for hearing. The vibration auralization system was designed to accommodate the changes in the social structure caused by the pandemic, the demand for new technologies to support inspections and monitoring. Experimental results have shown the system’s effectiveness in simulating the sound of vibrations in low-frequency sounds and playing back circuit breaker sounds against a noisy background, demonstrating its potential as a valuable tool for remote inspections and monitoring in the manufacturing industry.
