Abstract

Recently, many systems using virtual space via some displays have been developed, however, the commonly used two-dimensional (2D) displays have limitations in depth perception. Therefore, in this study, the tendency of spatial perception in virtual space under a 2D display situation is confirmed by performing three-dimensional drawing tasks in virtual space synchronized with real space using a 2D display. It was also confirmed that the use of simple tactile feedback had an intervention effect on the spatial perception ability. These results suggest that tactile feedback can be used to enhance the spatial perception even on the 2D display and the effects of enhancement remained after withdrawing tactile feedback.
