Abstract

Visual illusions are widely used in educational materials because they stimulate children’s curiosity, especially infants, through the wonder phenomena. In this study, we focus on the positive effects obtained from the experiences with visual illusions, and apply the illusional effects into a digital gimmick picture book system [8], which is based on projection-mapping. As visual illusion techniques utilized mainly, we combine ana-morphosis, which can show planar objects three-dimensionally, and reverse perspective method that provides an illusion of static object’s movement. In experiment, the combined effects were evaluated quantitively on the gimmick picture projection system.
